2. My Business Account CRA

My Business Account caters specifically to the needs of businesses and organizations. This platform streamlines various tax tasks, including filing tax returns (GST/HST, payroll, corporate income), viewing account balances, viewing filing history includes past tax returns, notices of assessment (NOA), reassessments, and other relevant documents, and making secure online payments. Businesses can also manage authorized representatives and access important correspondence from the CRA, ensuring organized and efficient tax management.

Here’s how to get started:

  • Business Number (BN): You’ll need your unique 9-digit Business Number (BN) to register and access your business tax account with the CRA.
  • CRA User ID and Password: If you haven’t already, register for a CRA user ID and password through the CRA website.
  • New Businesses: New businesses can often register for their BN and My Business Account simultaneously.

3. MyCRA Mobile App

The MyCRA mobile app offers on-the-go access to key tax information. Check your refund status, view return summaries, update personal information, and locate nearby volunteer tax preparation clinics – all from your smartphone or tablet.

4. Represent a Client

Represent a Client is a service that enables authorized representatives to access tax information on behalf of individuals and businesses. This tool is particularly useful for tax accountants, legal representatives, and family members who manage tax affairs for others. This secure online platform ensures authorized access and protects client confidentiality.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Client Initiates Access: Your client can electronically grant you access directly through their My Account.
  2. Confirmation & Access: Once authorized, you’ll receive a notification, and you can log in to Represent a Client using your CRA user ID and password to manage your client’s tax information.

With Represent a Client, you can handle various tax tasks for your clients, including:

  • Filing tax returns electronically for faster processing.
  • Accessing client notices of assessment (NOA) and other important documents.
  • Communicating with the CRA regarding your client’s tax file.

5. Auto-Fill my Return (AFR)

Auto-Fill my Return (AFR) is a service that allows individuals and authorized representatives to pre-fill sections of their income tax and benefit return with information already on file with the CRA. This feature is available through certified software and can be used for the current tax year plus the previous seven tax years.

Here’s how to use it:

  1. Tax Software: Use a NETFILE-certified software that supports Auto-Fill My Return.
  2. Authorize: Log in to the tax software with your CRA My Account user ID and password.
  3. Auto-Fill: Download and import your tax information directly from the CRA into your return, saving you time and effort.
